legit only found this in 2023 after coming across the Muete Techno Marching band cover - where have I been 😱
I remember dancing for days E'n off my head to an extended dance remix of this on the floor in a huge warehouse party at the warehouses in Melbourne docklands, before they were ripped down and the land redeveloped into highrises. There used to be four of them a year. Nothing like a club and nothing like an outdoor rave that I later started going to like Earthcore. They were in a class of their own. It was really subby, deep, sexy and minimalist House in parts throughout, like the beginning of this, with that distinctive echoing sonar-like piercing sound sample you can hear at the beginning of this track, repeated throughout, and keeping time. But, this version had a repeated remixology of the vocal build, you know the bit, the best bit when she changes pitch, the vocal climax of the single, that sample was remixed and that sample kept changing and winding up and up, pause, then up and up, pause, then up and up, building the intensity to incredible levels and the remix didn't release the tension and the Kundalini Express just exploded up my spine and into the heavens like a bolt of lightning and then all the sound dropped away to a long low rumbling deep ultra-subby sound drone of the next track! The spaciousness went on for what felt like eternity, but it too ever-so slowly started to build. This DJ, whoever they were, loved builds. I wish I could remember who the DJ was. The remix had have gone on for a duration of over 20 minutes. It was extended. I would pay over AUS$100.00 for an electronic copy of that mix right now, not even for vinyl, probably much, much more to be honest. Bloody brilliant! Good times.
